My 600lb Life

>Be a Firefighter/Paramedic
>Get called out to a home where Law Enforcement had done a check welfare
>Arrive on scene and see officer outside vomiting.
>It is 100+ Degrees F and from the outside of the trailer you can see condensation on the windows.
>It is steamy as fuck and as you look through the opening to the trailer your eyes begin to water.
>I am about 20 feet from the trailer and the smell starts to hit. It is so strong you don't know what to think.
>It is musty, salty, sweaty, and strong like a chemical.
>Officer approaches and states that our Medic Unit won't be enough, we need more people and hazmat equipment.
>We get an engine rolling and put tyvek BIO PPE suits on and throw our SCBAs on for the smell.
>Walk in with flashlights and notice feces all over the floor.
>Notice trash piled high with literal fungus and mold that looks like it was moving.
>Ground is littered with used sharps (hundreds) from obvious insulin administration.
>Notice in the back of the trailer there is a pullout bed with a wrap around couch.
>There is a mass on the couch.
>Walk up and try to check for a pulse at the carotid.
>Burning hot to the touch, lividity is noted in the extremities and abdomen that is leaning over on the side.
>Walk out and ask what Law wants.
>"Well to remove him"
>YOU GOT TO BE FUCKING KIDDING ME
>Go back in and we use tow straps wrapped around his arms to lean him forward so we can chainsaw the back of the trailer open.
>There is no way he is fitting through the side door of the trailer.
>Fucking 30 minutes later the back of the trailer is cut out.
>Coroner has a pickup truck (not the usual body collection van) and he backs it up to the now non existent wall.
>We start to pull him out with the tow straps but he fucking right arm starts to literally disintegrate.
>We then have to start pushing with two of us under each thigh.
>As he moves across the bed/couch thing there is sludge left behind from where he has been melting into the trailer.
>Notice a fucking carcass
>NOT FUCKING JOKING, IT WAS UNDERNEATH HIM
>Could have been a cat, a large rat, or a small dog. There was pet shit and a litter box on the other side of the trailer.
>Finally get him pushed out over into the pickup.
>He had literally gotten stuck in his trailer and had someone deliver food and supplies.
>Since he never left he never got his medication and died as a result of complications related to his CHF, Diabetes, HTN, CAD (list goes on).
>Coroner stated he was over 600lbs.

The whole process took over an hour to get him out. In that time an Engine, a Medic Unit, a Police Officer and two employees of the Coroners office were on scene. It would later takes us over 4 hours to clean up our own personal gear while Law Enforcement stayed a few more hours on scene until a private contractor came to secure the area as a biohazard.

I feel bad for people with weight problems, but anyone in the HAES movement or the "ITS THEIR BODY LET THEM DO AS THEY PLEASE" Need to explain why when a 600lbs man is found dead it requires over 20 people and millions of dollars of apparatus and equipment to secure the body. Where as a normal weight person can usually be handled by the Coroners office with the help of a Police Officer and or one Medic Unit if needed.
